REVIEW: The Hallmark Sequel "Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up" Is as Silly as the First One

Emily and Jared are looking forward to celebrating the holidays together as a couple, and they prepare to work with their neighbors on Evergreen Lane to make this year's Christmas celebrations the best yet.  When a house on the block goes up for sale, the soon-to-be-neighbors are holiday royalty, but they are so competitive that they nearly ruin Christmas for everyone. Starring:   Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ellen Travolta, Melissa Peterman, Seth Morris, and Jennifer Aspen Image:  Hallmark Media Haul Out the Holly:  Lit Up Has a Moral When the residents of Evergreen Lane learn that their new neighbors are the Jolly Johnsons--famous holiday reality stars--they are thrilled to welcome them to the block.  Everyone assumes the Johnsons will fit right in since they share their same affinity for elf culture. Emily, Jared, and the rest of the holiday crew quickly realize that the Johnsons aren't interested in joining in on the fun--they plan to take over. Image:  Tw

No Strings Attached Contest! Our Facebook group is a fun place to be, and to keep everyone in the holiday spirit year round, we conduct periodic giveaways! What separates our contests from ordinary giveaways is that ours never have strings attached.  You do have to be a member of our group to participate, but no personal information is being mined, and no one will hound you later. We also love growing our group because we feel less crazy about loving Christmas all year when we're with others who feel the same way.  Hallmark Christmas fans are a fun bunch! Prize :  Hallmark's "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" DVD Even though this DVD is a throwback to 2008 (some argue Hallmark movies were better then), it still remains in the top 10 of Hallmark's all-time favorite holiday movies. Here's what it's about:  Disenchanted single mom Jennifer Cullen is like a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas.  Even her 6-year-old son has trouble believing in Santa Claus.

Hallmark's "Sense, Sensibility, and Snowmen" QUIZ!!!

Image
Starring:  Erin Krakow and Luke MacFarlane Released:  2019 Summary:  An enthusiastic Christmas party planner and her sister clash with their client, who is a not-so-jolly chief executive officer for a toy company. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC Choosing a Career Path Ella Dashwood is footloose and fancy free.  Her resume is long for such a young life because she craves adventure.  She and her best friend are known for working jobs long enough to earn money to travel and experience new things before landing back home to start the cycle all over again.  Sounds like a typical millennial to me! Ella is finally settling into the party planning industry with her sister in their own business.  She's making mistakes, but she's learning the importance of ownership and personal responsibility.  When her BFF invites her to a screenwriting course, Ella declines, and it's a sign she's finally maturing and taking her role in the family business seriously. Who do you know who

Hallmark's "The Christmas Club" Is a Novel Too!

Image
Starring:  Elizabeth Mitchell and Cameron Mathison Released:  2019 Summary:  Two strangers encounter each other while trying to aid an elderly woman in recovering her lost Christmas savings, and the two of them hit it off. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC The Christmas Club Is Available Through Amazon Did you know Hallmark's The Christmas Club is based on the novel by Barbara Hinske? Two differences between the book and the movie are the setting and the era.  The novel takes place in 1952, and the setting is Cleveland, Ohio, rather than New York City.  Instead of losing $80 in twenties, Verna (rather than Gertrude) loses $30 in fives.   I still don't comprehend how $80 would cover Christmas presents for all your grand kids, but maybe I overspend. Hinske began her career as an attorney but left the practice to pursue writing full-time.  She inherited the writing bug from her father, who authored mysteries after his retirement and who made up bedti

Christmas at Grand Valley--The Starving Artist

Image
Starring:  Danica McKellar and Brennan Elliott Released:  2018 Summary:  An artist decides to leave the city for Christmas and returns to her hometown where she meets a businessman who's reviewing the local hotel for its value. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC Some Jobs Just Aren't Profitable Kelly Riley (McKellar) is living in Chicago, and "painter's block" is standing in the way of her securing an art show at one of the city's prestigious galleries. No big surprise here.  Did you know that of our nation's 2 million art graduates, only 10% wind up earning a living as artists?  Hence, the meme aimed at arts/liberal arts majors:  get used to saying,   do you want fries with that? The world is brimming with talented artists, singers, actors, dancers, and writers with the potential for making it big; however, the extensive competition makes it very difficult to stand out in the sea of creative geniuses. We learn Kelly has gone fr
