REVIEW: The Hallmark Sequel "Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up" Is as Silly as the First One

Emily and Jared are looking forward to celebrating the holidays together as a couple, and they prepare to work with their neighbors on Evergreen Lane to make this year's Christmas celebrations the best yet.  When a house on the block goes up for sale, the soon-to-be-neighbors are holiday royalty, but they are so competitive that they nearly ruin Christmas for everyone. Starring:   Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ellen Travolta, Melissa Peterman, Seth Morris, and Jennifer Aspen Image:  Hallmark Media Haul Out the Holly:  Lit Up Has a Moral When the residents of Evergreen Lane learn that their new neighbors are the Jolly Johnsons--famous holiday reality stars--they are thrilled to welcome them to the block.  Everyone assumes the Johnsons will fit right in since they share their same affinity for elf culture. Emily, Jared, and the rest of the holiday crew quickly realize that the Johnsons aren't interested in joining in on the fun--they plan to take over. Image:  Tw

Hallmark's "Our Christmas Love Song"

Image
Starring:  Alicia Witt and Brendan Hines Released:  2019 Summary:  When a country music star is accused of plagiarizing her holiday single, she returns home to spend Christmas with her family and an old flame. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC Falsely Accused Connie Black, a country music star and Melody Jones's mentor, is stuck in a rut.  Her star is fading, and she's in desperate need of a hit song to revive her dying career. When Melody records and releases a song she wrote in high school with her father, Heart of Christmas , Connie's husband pushes her to file a lawsuit, claiming it has the same chords and words as Connie's past hit, Heart of Tennessee. Deep down, Connie knows Melody would never steal her work, or lie about it when confronted.  But, since her husband is also her manager, she pursues a settlement or lawsuit despite her reservations. Melody needs proof she wrote the song first, so she heads home to Madison, Indiana, to l

Hallmark's "Matchmaker Santa" 2012 Throwback & QUIZ!!

Image
Starring:  Lacey Chabert and Adam Mayfield Released:  2012 Summary:  As Melanie looks forward to a romantic weekend with her boyfriend at his family's lake house, events transpire that cause her to spend more time with his assistant, Dean.  Santa orchestrates a series of events to finally answer her Christmas wish from when she was a little girl. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC Not a Priority Despite this movie being an oldie from 2012, Lacey Chabert looks the exact same now--the woman never ages!  Let's hope she'll keep cranking out Hallmark movies for a long time to come. This classic throwback incorporates the magic of Santa, which seems to be an ingredient newer Hallmark movies have ceased to include. We learn that some childhood wishes have to be put on hold until the child becomes the ideal age to receive an answer, and Santa never forgets 9-year-old Melanie's wish to find her own Prince Charming.  She admires the love her parents share and

Hallmark's Christmas in Montana--Not a Good Fit for Kellie Martin

Image
Starring:   Kellie Martin and Colin Ferguson Released:   2019 Summary:   A woman goes to Montana to help a man save his ranch, and her time there helps restore her faith in Christmas. Image:  Crown Media, United States LLC Is Hallmark Combating Ageism? Hallmark's recent movies often look like pro-affirmative action statements, and it seems Hallmark also doesn't want to be accused of ageism--discriminating against love birds of advanced ages. Kellie Martin and Colin Ferguson look to be in their mid-50's, but they are 44 and 47, respectively.  Gasp.  While some forty-somethings can pass for their early thirties, these two can't.   When Sara (Martin) tells Travis (Ferguson) he'll make a great dad someday, my jaw dropped.  His name isn't Abraham. Before you get testy, let me say that I'm also in my late 40's, not some young whippersnapper criticizing my elders. No matter how old we get, we still feel like the same young perso
